No male representation on the NCCA panel

Gabija Gataveckaite’s November 9th Irish Independent article rightly drew attention to the inappropriate use of homophobic booklets by the Irish Education Department’s Professional Development Service for Teachers.

The article goes on mention that the National Council for Curriculum Assessment is conducting a review into on Relationship and Sex Education to reflect “the inclusive standards and ethos which the education sector seeks to uphold”.

Interestingly the NCCA group tasked with designing the new RSE curriculum comprises 13 females and zero males.    The hidden non-inclusive message: leave males out of this as they have no responsibility in sexual matters?

NCCA designed its 13 member RSE working group so as to exclude males.   “Males shouldn’t come into RSE” seems to be the NCCAie motto.

We at Parents Rights Alliance say we need male and female parental input in designing any new curriculum relating to Relationships Education.
